This workshop incorporates three interconnected areas of responsibility – fiduciary, strategic, and generative – and the board’s role in focusing on the entire organization and working together as a whole. This session will include:

  • Principles of good governance and the foundations of working together as a board.
  • Clarifying the roles and responsibilities of individual board members and the board as a whole including understanding three interconnected areas of responsibility for boards – fiduciary, strategic, and generative responsibility.
  • Understanding the role of the senior executive, and the differences between board and staff and how they work with each other.

Challenges of Governance: Identifying board dysfunctions

Check back for Fall 2023 dates.

At some point or another, virtually every nonprofit encounters barriers to effective board functioning. Fractured working relationships, a lack of role clarity, and short-sighted governance discussions are just some of the challenges that limit an organization’s ability to progress and deliver on mission.

By approaching board governance as a team activity, this interactive workshop will bring best practices to life through collaborative examination of case studies. The case studies addressed are based on real-life situations, allowing leaders to anticipate potential setbacks and discuss possible ways forward.

This webinar is designed for nonprofit leaders looking for practical insight on building and maintaining a high-functioning board, no matter what stage of board development your organization may be in. During the session, we’ll cover:

  • Principles of good governance and the foundations of working together as a board.
  • Common issues in nonprofit boards: overview, case discussions.
  • Resources and tools to share with your board.

Cost: $10-30. We recognize that smaller organizations lack equitable access to the financial resources needed for professional development. We have provided 3 ticket pricing options that provide full access to the workshop. We invite you to choose a rate that is best aligned with you or your organization's ability to pay.
