Yes, this is a week day event but it will be worth it, we have brought in someone to speak on the many different types of grants available to your organization.

As well as workshops around financial and legal compliance issues.  

Alberta Employment Standards and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation  - 9:00-11:00

This workshop will help to answer questions around how recent changes may affect organizations and how address them in daily operations.  

Presented by: Yvonne Chenier, Q.C. Yvonne is a lawyer and philanthropy consultant. As Legal Counsel for IntegralOrg, Yvonne brings 35 years of experience helping those in the philanthropic, not-for-profit and social enterprise sectors, acting as general legal counsel and advising on planning, organizational, regulatory and governance matters.  

Good Grant Making -The Elements of a Successful Proposal -  11:00-12:00

This workshop will provide an overview of the elements involved in good grant writing.  

Presented by: Cassandra Lundell Cassandra is the Community Grants Associate at the Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF). Cassandra works closely with charities and volunteer committees, throughout the application process. Prior to this position, she was an Executive Director for a charity, applying for grants.

Finance 101 - 1:00-4:00

This session is a great opportunity to help define the roles and responsibilities in financial management at your organization.

Topic will include: 

  • Reading and understanding your financial statements.
  • Looking at financial management policies including internal controls.
  • Ensuring you are compliant with CRA requirements.
  • Developing a better understanding of the relationship between your budget, financial statements and your funding application.  

Presented by: Betty Thompson FCPA, FCGA Betty is a chartered professional accountant and President and Board Chair of IntegralOrg. Betty has over 40 years of entrepreneurial and not-for-profit expertise. Through IntegralOrg, Betty offers coaching services in governance, policy development, financial and management related issues.
